- In view of the growing need for the international community to render support to the increasing number of Syrian refugees in Syria’s neighboring countries, the government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide the country with humanitarian assistance worth US$400,000 in addition to the previously donated $1.6 million.
*There are some 110,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan; 110,000 in Lebanon; 110,000 in Turkey; and 47,000 in Iraq, some 400,000 in total.
The plan on the additional aid will be announced at the “Friends of the Syrian People” meeting to be held in Morocco on December 12 for discussions on ways to settle the situation in Syria.
The aid will be provided to Jordan and Turkey, both of which face difficulties caused by the massive influx of Syrian refugees, for relief operations for Syrian refugees in those countries.
